They always come back — a poem
May 10, 2024
They always come back
I’m stronger now,
Different.
Grown wider,
Like mountains,
Craggy and smooth.
Softer in places I once feared to touch.
I spent years in the belief
I wasn’t good enough.
But they always come back
Don’t they?
And I always get what I want
Don’t I?
Strength comes in many forms
Mine in the realisation
That I don’t need them
But want them
And when I choose me
They return.
