Soul Ties — a poem

--

I’ve numbered your days
Sought you out
From haystacks of lives
You were part of me, once
I’ve met you before
We’ve been lovers
Brothers
I’ve been your child
You’ve been mine
But always, we’ll find
Each other’s blue eyes
Smelling the skin
Opening memories
We’d forgotten, again
So when they spin us awake
For the millionth time
And place us in countries
Parted by a million miles.
Parts of us, those deep parts
That never see sunlight
Will laugh and speak
To each other at nighttime

Hello, my love
Welcome back,
Welcome home.
I’m coming to find you
You won’t be alone.
