I want all of you forever – a poem

--

A truth I’d never spoken aloud.
Scared of what it meant
If I told you.
How often I sat
Silently
Still
Imagining our children
Snuggling into your chest
As I dusted photos
Of our wedding
That sat on top of
An exposed brick mantelpiece
That we never quite agreed on
But you relented
And installed it, anyway

Just for me.
