I dream about you — a poem

--

Thank you for
Visiting me
In my dream.

Where you walk
Towards me,
As I sit on the kitchen counter
Where I used to sit.

And you get so close
All I can see is your chest.

Smelling you.
Palms on your skin
Under your T-shirt.

And you open up.
And your ribs circle around me
Encasing me,
Next to the heart
That belongs to me.

An immortal embrace,
Ligament space
Beating a rhythm that
Matches the pulse
I see at your throat.

I’m in you again
Awakening with a smile.
Held in your chest
All day.
