Drown me in love — a poem

--

Is it too much
To ask for a love
That destroys
All pretence
Of Earthly senses?
A love that blinds me
So that I can see?
Chokes me
So I can breathe?
Turns me from human
To spirit, to water and air.
Understood only
With the intuitive touch
Its fingers deliver,
As they snap open
Each of my ribs
To let more of it in.

Is it too much
To ask to be destroyed
Entirely by love
So I can become me
Again?
