A beautiful silence — a poem
May 10, 2024
Silence
All of us
Go silent
When we’ve
Run out
Of things
To lie about.
Silence
That painfully loud
Kind
Is the most beautiful
Complex
Truth
We can offer
Somebody.
It says so much
While saying
Nothing.
It rings in
Ears
In tears
In panic
That wakes us
From healing
Sleep.
I’ve brought
Silence
On myself.
Many
Times.
I’ve welcomed it
Kindly
Angrily
Hatefully
Calmly.
It’s kissed me
And taught me
Poetry.
